The Lowden S23 Walnut & Cedar is an elegant, hand-built western guitar that stands out for its intimate character and refined tonal balance. The S-body (concert) is the most compact model within the Lowden range and is designed for guitarists seeking maximum control and comfort, without sacrificing depth or expression. This shape lends itself particularly well to detailed fingerstyle playing and subtle dynamics, with every nuance reproduced clearly. Guitarists who enjoy flatpicking will also be charmed by the clarity and tight response of this guitar.

Balanced and defined

The sound character of the S23 is defined by the combination of a solid cedar top and also solid walnut for the sides and back. Cedar provides a warm, fast response with rich harmonics, while walnut adds a tight, transparent undertone and depth that lies somewhere between that of mahogany and that of rosewood. The result is a balanced sound that feels both warm and defined, ideal for solo playing and acoustic arrangements with lots of detail. Like all Lowden guitars, this S23 was built entirely by hand in Northern Ireland by experienced luthiers, which translates into high quality, a comfortable neck and an instantly playable set-up. Reliable tuning machines (Gotoh SG381) and Elixir Phosphor Bronze strings (12-53) contribute to stable tuning and long string life. The guitar comes with a sturdy case, allowing you to store and transport this high-quality instrument safely and in comfort.
