This 50W Mini Nightmare is the compact, little brother of the Purple Nightmare tube head by Driftwood. With two channels, built-in overdrive and a noise-gate, this tube top can deliver a broad palette of powerful, American guitar sounds. The first channel gets you a clean to averagely-overdriven base sound that's certainly suitable to be combined with distortion and modulation effects. The second channel, called 'burn', takes you to a sonic space where the loud and dirty styles reside. Forcefully rich and amplified rock sounds await inside this manageable tube head!

Mini Nightmare: Overdrive, noise-gate and tubes

Since both channels have their own tone, gain and master controls, it's possible to conjure up all kinds of crazy sounds with this Driftwood top. The TS overdrive lets you add the kind of character and definition NWOAHM bands feature while a noise-gate keeps out any unwanted hissing and humming and provides extra stability and accuracy to your overall sound. The preamp section has been fitted with ECC83 tubes while the power amp part boasts 6L6's for a nicely rounded preamp base sound with clear mids, deep lows and bright power amplification.

Switch, power supply and construction

Apart from the above-mentioned noise-gate, the Mini Nightmare comes with assignable overdrive and mono effects loop sections on both channels, both of which can be switched on and off using an external duo-switch. Equally, a single foot switch also lets you alternate between both channels, depending on your taste, style or situation. Please note, no foot switch is included with this tube top! Moreover, the built-in 9V DC port (centre-negative, 2.1 mm barrel-type) allows you to feed your favourite effects with power from the Driftwood.
