General

Built by Koch in the Netherlands, Studiotone guitar amplifiers are driven by a combination of 12AX7 and EL84 tubes to deliver richly coloured and diverse tone. The Koch Studiotone XL Head is capable of 40 Watts of power and has one up on it's smaller 40 Watt counterpart since it can maintain pristine clarity at high volumes. This amp is fitted with EQ controls, a spring reverb and a fistful of outputs around the back. It also comes with a footswitch included.

A Pair of Channels and a Fistful of Outputs

Use the included footswitch to flip from the warm, clean tone of Channel 1, to the coloured, overdriven Channel 2. The Overdrive+ mode (with 3 settings) opens up the amp and pushes the overdrive further. Around the back, the inputs and outputs are a little unusual. There's an an unfiltered output for connection to the clean input of an amp, a second for connection to a return input and a recording output with microphone placement and cabinet simulation.

Wrote the following about Koch Studiotone XL Head Guitar Amplifier

Heerlijke versterker: mooi warm en complex geluid, makkelijk te bedienen.
De voicingknoppen zijn goed te gebruiken, bij andere versterkers zijn ze soms wat overdreven. Clean is echt clean, de andere kanalen gaan van stevige blues tot oude metal. Bij veel gain blijft het geluid goed gedefinieerd. Moderne high gain doet hij niet (twintone 3 met closed back kast wel).

Het is een vesterker waarmee je 'half uurtje ff spelen' uit de hand loopt tot te laat naar bed. En hij zit super degelijk in elkaar.

Let op bij de eerste branduren: Hij moet even ingespeeld worden, voordat hij echt mooi klinkt.
