Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee Head 100-watt guitar amplifier head

This is what many guitarists have been waiting for for nearly thirty years: the Marshall 2555X Silver Jubilee Head. This 100-watt guitar amplifier head is a reissue of the famous 2555 Head from the JCM 25/50 Silver Jubilee Series. The Jubilee was made in 1987 to commemorate Marshall's 25th anniversary and Jim Marshall's 50 years in the music industry. A noticeable feature of this (hard) rocking tube amp was the silver-coloured vinyl and chrome-plated front panel. Additionally, it was the first amplifier to have a pentode/triode function and a preamp with three gain types.

2555X: valve power at 100 or 50 watts

As the originals were Limited Edition models, they stopped making the highly praised Jubilee series in 1988. However, guitarists tenaciously kept requesting a reissue, resulting in the second coming of the 2555X. This valve amplifier is modelled after the JCM800 2203 and 2204 Master Volume models and equipped with three ECC83 preamp valves and four EL34 power valves. If the full 100 watts is a bit too much for your rehearsal room, set the 2555X to Low (triode mode), a 50-watt setting that allows you to distort the sound at much lower volumes.

Three types of gain

This amplifier head (made in England) has three types of gain. Use only the normal input gain to let the sound go from clean to raw in a common way, or go for a more powerful distortion by retracting the gain knob, or pull out the Output Master for maximum overdrive. This last option - the Lead Master - has its own gain control and can be engaged with the included foot switch. You can accurately adjust the timbre with four tone controls, including Presence, which affects the upper mids.
