Here, the fully analogue signal path is supported by custom UK-made transformers and high-quality tubes, resulting in a tight low-end and transparent-and-musical compression. A DAW Expansion in Hardware Form
Via the A4 software suite (not included), this analogue compressor is easily integrated into a digital DAW-based workflow. Automated attack, release, gain, threshold and ratio parameters offer unprecedented control, while motorised potentiometers enable instant-synchronisation with software settings. In addition, the A4-1B features a comprehensive filter section with high-pass, band-pass and de-esser filtering for precise frequency tweaks when side-chaining.
Automatic Calibration and Accurate Gain-Staging
One of the stand-out features of the А4-1B are its calibration systems. A built-in Opto-Cell Test System ensures consistent compression and long-term reliability, even after decades of work, but the automatic calibration shines the most when two units are set up in stereo or when you need to recall old presets. Open the Calibration menu and set the reference level to -10 dBu, 0 dBu, +4 dBu or +20 dBu and easily calibrate the VU meter as needed.
