Set up for processing mono or stereo source material, the Gainlab Audio GLA-OC1 - a.k.a. The Governor is a two-channel opto compressor equipped with detailed controls per channel. The Governor can take on anything whether it's bus compression, mastering or treating individual instruments and tracks. Compare this mighty unit with the vintage compressors they were building back in the '50s and you'll immediately notice that The Governor comes populated with way more control features - but never fear! If you want that old-school opto compressor feel, then just stick to the threshold and output controls. Unlike a lot of opto compressors, you also get full manual control over the attack and release - upping the flexibility and making The Governor an incredible mix bus processing tool. Meanwhile, the side-chain filter can be harnessed per channel to give the lower frequencies plenty of breathing space.

Dual Slope

One of the most unique features of The Governor is the dual threshold or 'Dual Slope'. The first stage has a mild ratio with a soft knee, while the second stage has a much higher ratio with a hard knee. Essentially, you're looking at two compressors in one, so you can treat the mix with subtle 'glue' compression while applying a harder compression to the drums, side stepping over-compression and leaving stunning results.
