DW Drums is always looking for points that can be improved on the already very popular products the well-known brand supplies. Even the single bass drum pedal from the 9000 series, hugely popular for years, has been revisited and addressed in a number of ways. For instance, we already see the new 'tri-pivot toe clamp': three contact points ensure that the pedal and bass drum tensioning edge have better contact with each other, with more grip. The cam has also changed. There is now an 'EZ adjust cam' on this pedal that you can easily adjust from 'Accelerator' to 'Turbo' and everything in between.

The frame of this pedal is quite robust and wide. As a result, the pedal feels solid. Side play is minimal thanks to the 'ball bearing' hinge that connects the footboard to the base plate. As standard, this pedal features a double chain drive, but a nylon strap is also included for drummers who prefer that. Swapping this is easy. Wrote the following about DW Drums 9000 single bass drum pedal

Een prachtig ogend pedaal en technisch perfect qua bouw. Instelmogelijkheden te over. Met dit pedaal kan je echt alle kanten op! Waarom dan geen 5 sterren? Het zal wel aan mij liggen maar ik vind het pedaal toch best prijzig. Tweede punt is dat ik hem niet 'beter' (wat is beter, het blijft toch ook een kwestie van gevoel en smaak) vind spelen dan bijvoorbeeld de Iron Cobra of Speed Cobra van Tama. Je hebt dan wel meer instelmogelijkheden maar op de één of andere manier haal ik dat voordeel er niet uit bij het spelen maar dat kan natuurlijk ook aan mij liggen. Prima pedaal dus maar er zijn veel goedkopere alternatieven die hier niet voor onderdoen.
