General

Boss mark the beginning of a new age with the release of the RC-600 Loop Station. The ultimate stereo looper, this slab of sonic genius records in 32-bit sound quality and boasts supreme ease of use. The next-gen Boss Loop Station rightfully takes its throne as the most complete and well thought-out looper in the known universe, setting up singer-songwriters, guitarists, multi-instrumentalists, and even beat-boxers with a powerfully creative tool that provides six stereo tracks complete with microphone and instrument inputs and a total recording time of no-less-than 13 hours.

The RC-600 Loop Station: Supreme Ease of Use

Loopers can get pretty complex pretty quickly when it comes to the controls, but here, Boss present the optimal solution: nine freely assignable footswitches that present a silky-smooth workflow. External footswitches or expression pedals can be added on with little fuss to expand the level of control even further, and lined up along the back panel, you'll find every flavour of port you could ever wish for: from stereo inputs and outputs to MIDI in and out, XLR microphone inputs complete with phantom power, and a USB port for linking up to the Boss Tone Studio.

The Effects

Colour in loops and add some custom flair to the performance using the near-endless bank of effects that the RC-600 has on offer. 49 Input effects and 53 Track effects have been loaded in, four of which can be used at the same time before being saved to the internal memory. The clever detail here is that all of the time-based effects, like delay, can be automatically synchronised to the set tempo of the built-in beats or the loop tempo. Besides your more bread-and-butter effects, this Boss-curated library also has a few surprises up its sleeve, including a bass simulator and more DJ-esque effects like Beat Scatter and Vinyl Flick.

Build the Groove

Doing far more than just serving as a metronome, the onboard beats of the RC-600 include an immense range of different patterns and kits. The 200 patterns span pop, rock, jazz, latin, and more; four variations can be selected per pattern; and there are intros, outros, and automatic fills that can be added to really boost the real-time dynamics. As if that wasn't enough, Boss have also included the option to load in your own SMF beats using the RC Rhythm Converter software, so that custom beats can be constructed using the sixteen built-in drum kits and you can weave original rhythms with everything from light percussion to electronic samples.
