In tight collaboration with the much celebrated master-guitarist Larry Carlton, Sire serve up the H7 semi-acoustic. This refined thinline hollowbody has been lovingly based on Mr. 335's most played and beloved guitar. The careful and detailed study of Larry's own electric archtop is immediately evident in the looks, feel and electronics. The two mounted humbuckers and controls have been specially voiced according to the very specific practical demands of the acclaimed session musician himself, while a tastefully flamed maple top and ebony fretboard take care of both the foundation acoustic sound and aesthetics. This double-cut hollowbody offers exacting build quality and matching sound and comes at a surprisingly attainable price.

Na het lezen en bekijken van reviews op internet, heb ik op een doordeweekse ochtend deze Sire Larry Carlton H7 nieuw uit de doos bij Bax in Goes mogen proberen. Bax liet me daarbij een versterker kiezen die ik zelf thuis ook heb staan. Deze gitaar verdient eigenlijk iets als een Fender 65 Deluxe maar ik doe het thuis met een Boss MK2 en een Fender 65 sneaky amp preset. Prima. Ik speel niet in een band dus.

De H7 is een prachtige gitaar om te zien, mooi afgewerkt en ik heb geen vlekje of krasje kunnen ontdekken. De Sire premium tuners voelen goed en zijn tot op de dag van vandaag prima. De intonatie stond Out off the Box ook goed.

Het geluid van de standaard alnico 2 pickups vind ik erg mooi, zonder de overdreven scherpe hoge frequenties van bv Alinco 5. Je krijgt een vol en snarly geluid.

De output van de pickups van deze gitaar heb ik gemeten:
Neck pickup 7.71 ohm
Bridge pickup 7.81 ohm
Middle position 3.71 ohm

De hals van de H7 is voor een ES335 model wat smal maar voor mij geen probleem. De volume en tone knoppen voelen goed en geven je heel veel variaties in toon. Draai dus niet altijd alles voluit!

De Sire Larry Carlton H7 is een gitaar waarbij ik voor het eerst niet meteen iets wil vervangen. De sound is heerlijk om te horen en hij kan lekker bijten met een beetje vintage overdrive. Als je dus op zoek bent naar een ES 335 clone, probeer deze dan vooral ook.

Als een gitaar op deze manier wordt afgeleverd daar kan ik alleen maar blij van worden, de elementen kinken er goed, goede kwaliteit potmeters, zelfs een trebble bleed ingebouwd. De gitaar was al redelijk goed afgesteld ik heb alleen beetje de fijn afstelling moeten doen er zaten zelfs goede kwaliteit snaren op de gitaar. perfect afgewerkte gitaar zelfs de fretten waren mooi bijgewerkt de gitaar was direct bespeelbaar. Kortom de prijs kwaliteitsverhouding een hele mooie gitaar voor dat geld!
