General

The perfect entry-level model as far as chromatic harmonicas go, the Hohner Chrometta 12 is part of a series of harmonicas that's received praise from players of all skill levels. The Chrometta 12 G offers three full G-major scales to play and, while the tuning isn't as important with chromatic harmonicas as it is for diatonic models, the chromatic design does mean the lowest and highest notes available are Gs. The notes of the three octaves in between can be used flexibly, especially in classical pieces.

The Chrometta 12 boasts a lot of features and specifications that make it perfect for beginners. First of all, its price has been kept nice and low thanks to the use of slightly less costly materials. While the combs of more high-end harmonicas are usually made of wood, the Chrometta 12 features a durable synthetic comb that makes starting out a little more comfortable. In addition, the twelve holes in the comb have been made bigger than average to ease hitting the right notes, while the zigzag slide design allows for smooth pitch-shifts. In total, the Hohner Chrometta 12 features 48 brass reeds that are each 1.05mm thick.
