General

This chromatic Hohner harmonica is unique in several ways. For instance, its modern design immediately stands out, but the CX-12 is not just an eye-catcher. In fact, its innovative design has a great influence on the timbre of this favourite of many among chromatic harmonicas. This is because no air can escape from the mouthpiece, as it is built into the body. The result: a warm, full sound and fast response. As is usual with chromatic harmonicas, this model also features a slide construction. When you press it, you raise each note by half a note, allowing you to play all 12 notes of the chromatic scale. Despite this feature, the harmonica is tuned in one key, viz: F-major; a key often used to play along with music in C-major.

The CX-12's commendable design

The CX-12's elegant design has been appreciated since the moment it was presented, and it won the German Industry Design Award in the same year; quite an achievement. Receiving this award was certainly not unjustified either, as Hohner has started a revolution among chromatic harmonicas with this series. After much research and testing, the greatest invention is undoubtedly the built-in mouthpiece, which is also distinguished by its narrowed, milled shape.
