Roland's CP88 is a professional stage piano with 57 sounds on board including grand pianos, electric pianos, organs, strings and synths. It has 88 natural wood, graded-hammer keys that offer the authentic feel of an acoustic piano thanks to the special weight distribution and three sensors per key. There are three different grand piano sounds among those found in the piano section. Other sounds can be found under the keyboard or sub voice sections. The CP88 is designed to be easy to use and comes in a robust aluminium housing.

Yamaha CP88 Stage Piano
I bought this after a lot of researching and trying out various keyboards from Yamaha, Roland and Nord. The most important thing for me are the Piano elememnts in terms of sound and feel of the keys - the CP88 is one of the best and for the money it IS THE BEST. Nord keyboards are nice too, but are so much more expensive for no real benefit (unless you really like the red colour!) The other important thing is that the CP88 is so easy and quick to use. The controls are a real mix of buttons in different colours and size, toggle switches and various sized rotarys which make the controlling very easy and the simple display shows just the details you need and nothing else - no cluttered or fiddly menus to worry about on this keyboard meaning that you can make changes without needing to refer to the manual. It's a quality instrument and I love it :)

Indien je vooral focus legt op piano spelen kan ik deze sterk aanraden door de layout van het instrument.
Je hebt verschillende secties (piano's, elektrische piano's en andere sounds). Elke sectie heeft ook zijn eigen effecten.
Hierdoor is het heel makkelijk en inituïtief om on-the-fly aanpassingen te maken en/of secties in- en uit te schakelen.
De klanken zijn geweldig: soulful en helder waardoor je vlot door de mix snijdt. Gepaard met een toch wel uitblinkend toetsgevoel kan je er ook fijne nuances uit halen, wat de klassieke pianist ook aanspreekt.
De omhuizing is stevig en een leuke combinatie van modern met vintage uitstraling.

Yamaha CP88 Stage Piano
Inmiddels twee maanden dit fijne instrument in bezit. Het is een genot om op te spelen, door de combinatie van een uitstekend pianoklavier met houten kernen (voelt aan als een vleugel met bewegende hamers) en de zeer hoge kwaliteit klanken van akoestische piano's en vleugels, elektrische en elektronische piano's (CP80, Rhodes, Wurlitzer, Clavichord, DX7) en andere aanvullende instrumenten.
De aanwezige klank van de Yamaha CFX vleugel is bijzonder mooi en goed bruikbaar voor het spelen en instuderen van zowel klassiek als modern repertoire. Deze stage piano benadert het gevoel en de klank van een echte vleugel (zoals de Yamaha C7 waar ik les op heb) zeer dicht, en dit is waarom ik deze heb gekozen.
Na een optreden met dit instrument kreeg ik vragen uit het publiek over welke piano dit was, men was erg gecharmeerd van de natuurlijke klank.
De drie combineerbare geluidssecties (Piano/E.piano/Sub) hebben elk hun eigen reeks instelbare effecten, zeer uitgebreid en van hoge kwaliteit. Met name het Drive-effect dat een analoge buizenversterker emuleert geeft een prachtig effect op de Rhodes en Wurlitzer piano's.

In de Advanced Mode kan je meerdere lagen van alle typen klanken stapelen, waardoor bijvoorbeeld ook interessante synthesizer-klanken zijn te maken, hoewel dit instrument natuurlijk voornamelijk als piano is bedoeld.
