In the studio, it's often very tempting to add all kinds of personalised samples and sounds to your music, but that's not always so easy in live situations. That'd why Roland developed the SPD::ONE WAV PAD, an electronic percussion pad designed to record your own samples, click tracks and/or backing tracks. All you need is this little device and you've got your own customised setup on hand at all times! There is room for 12 different WAV files and a total of 4 GB of memory at your disposal, which adds up to about 360 minutes of sounds in stereo.

SPD::ONE WAV PAD: master the mix

If you're playing along with a backing track, it's sometimes useful to add a click track. Thanks to a handy control, you can set it up so the click is only audible to you. Roland SPD::ONE WAV PAD

Na het proberen van goedkopere alternatieven, wilde ik toch deze pad hebben voor mijn one man band shows. Het maakt zeker de verwachten waar maar er zijn wel dingen die je moet weten wat niet overal wordt gemeld op websites en dergelijke. Mensen die lang met dit soort apparaten werken weten dit misschien al maar voor mensen die er geen verstand hebben kan dat even wennen zijn. Samples moeten een format hebben van 16 bit/44.1kHz . Voldoet je sample niet aan deze eisen, lees dan deze pagina over het converteren van bestanden op Itunes. Na vele mislukte pogingen volgde ik de stappen van de Roland site en het werkte meteen. Volg deze stappen en alles komt goed.

Zoals beschreven kan je via het aanpassen van de bestandsnaam van je sample de speelstijl aanpassen. De Poly en de Mono speelstijl werken prima, maar de overige twee lijken de Phrase en LOOP werken niet vreemd genoeg. Misschien na meer onderzoek dat ik het onder de knie krijg maar het schijnt een veel voorkomend fenomeen te zijn. Echter kan ik er niks over vinden op internet. 1 minpunt is dat er geen USB kabel of adapter mee komt met de pad. Gelukkig voor mij heb ik al een adapter ervoor en een geschikte USB kabel (type B micro). Maar de pad is al het duurste van de vier pads, dan kun je de klant op z'n minst alles geven wat hij/zij nodig heeft om meteen aan de slag te gaan. Dat denk ik maar goed ieder zijn eigen mening. Ondanks deze minpunt ben ik erg blij dat ik het heb aangeschaft en voor mijn shows is de Roland SPD WAV Pad ideaal.
