General

Recording acoustic drums normally involves the use of many microphones and a mixer. With Yamaha's EAD10, however, that's all in the past. The EAD10 consists of an electronic acoustic drum module and a sensor that helps you practise, record and perform with your acoustic drums. The sensor has two built-in stereo microphones and a bass drum trigger and converts the acoustic sound from your drum kit into a stereo digital signal that can then be customised using the EAD10's on-board controls and allows you to add effects and samples. The EAD10 is an easy way to turn your acoustic kit into a hybrid one, giving you many more possibilities.

Sounds and effects

The module has reverb, effect and trigger controls on board. Reverb adds spaciousness to your sound and there are 11 different types on offer including studio and concert hall. De EAD10 besteld om te gebruiken tijdens repetities zodat we mijn drumkit kunnen horen via de in ears. Ik heb hem zonder triggers en dan werkt het eigelijk niet ideaal. Vooral de kick hoor je bijna niet. Aan te raden is dus wel de trigger voor kick. Er zijn een paar presets die je kunt gebruiken om je kit zo normaal mogelijk te laten klinken en je kunt de hoeveelheid effect instellen.

Als je dus simpel en snel je drums wilt versterken voor repetities of simpelere kwaliteit opname werkt het prima.

Let op: al die gasten op youtube waarbij het ge-wel-dig klinkt alsof er een mic set op de drums zit… hartstikke nep! Het is echt geen waanzinnige kwaliteit maar werkt voor heel veel situaties perfect.

Begin maart heb ik na 2jaar sparen de Yamah EAD10 Drummodule gekocht. Ik had ervoor gekozen om de bestelling op te halen bij Bax music in Rotterdam. Ondanks dat er een storing was kon ik alsnog goed geholpen worden en had ik binnen 5minuten mijn pakketje. Service was top! De drummodule zelf werkt erg goed, ik heb de module gekocht voor de vele mogelijkheden en voornamelijk ook voor het opnemen van de drums met de app van Yamaha (Rec'n'Share) Helaas kon ik op de dag zelf nog niet opnemen omdat je daar een usb to host kabel voor nodig hebt. Die had ik in huis liggen, maar het opnemen gebeurd met je telefoon dus had je ook nog een kabel nodig wat van usb naar ( in mijn geval ) micro usb loopt. Gelijk besteld en na 2 dagen was ik klaar om mijn drums op te nemen. Maar helaas ondersteunt de app niet alle soorten telefoons dus kan ik zelf alleen geluid opnemen en geen beeld. Dat is nu gelukkig opgelost.

Mijn Conclusie:
De Yamaha EAD10 Drummodule is een mooi, compact opname/ effectmodule voor je akoestische drums. Snel en makkelijk aan te sluiten op je drumstel. Zorg er wel voor dat je de juiste kabels in huis hebt liggen! En dat je zeker weet dat je ( als je dat wilt ) kan opnemen met je telefoon. Op de website van Yamaha staat meer info daar over. De prijs kan inderdaad aan de hoge kant liggen. Ik heb er zelf ook 2jaar voor moeten sparen. Maar ik heb de module nu ongeveer 3 weken, en het is echt je geld waard. Je hebt zoveel verschillende mogelijkheden.
De service van Bax was zoalas gewoonlijk weer top en heb geen klachten, Ondanks de storing ben ik alsnog goed geholpen in de winkel.
