It is the Alpha and the Omega for reverb disciples: the Strymon Big Sky. Of course, you can put your faith in any number of analogue alternatives, but the fact remains that this digital pedal has just about any type of reverb known to man - modelled exactly after its analogue counterparts. And when Strymon says exact, they mean exact. The Big Sky was the result of extensive research, during which accurate mathematical models of the original reverbs were made, in order to guarantee truly faithful emulations. However, also modern, 'impossible' reverbs are an option. This is without a doubt one of the most expansive, convincing and most renowned reverb pedals available today.
The Big Sky features stereo inputs and outputs, cabinet emulations and twelve studio-grade reverb effects: Hall, Plate, Spring, Swell, Bloom, Cloud, Chorale, Shimmer, Magneto, Nonlinear, Reflections and Room. You can effortlessly go from delightfully mechanic '60s spring reverbs to the bizarre sounds of Magneto. The cleverly selected controls allow you to easily adjust the effects to your liking. Additionally, you can use the Parameter knobs to quickly select two parameters for each of the 300 presets. To make sure that all these effects are produced without any delay, Strymon fitted the Big Sky Multi Reverb with an insanely powerful SHARC processor.
Among the attractive extras of the Big Sky are the Spillover and Reverb Persist mode. The Spillover makes sure that the sound of the current preset smoothly flows into the next, while the Reverb Persist mode determines whether the decay should be cut short or needs to endure after you've pressed the bypass button. Additionally, the Infinite Sustain allows you to stack endlessly reverberating reverbs and the Freeze function lets you play freely over a sustained reverb signal. Moreover, this stomp box is MIDI compatible, and you can also use these connectors to set or back-up presets using a PC or Mac and an optional MIDI USB cable.
