Roland SH-4D Synthesizer

Great synth from Roland.
Quality and variety of sounds is amazing.
The 5 parts makes it a really complete and powerful synth.
Every sound is customizable and it gives you freedom to create a lot of different music styles.
Really happy with purchasing this gear.

Roland SH-4D Synthesizer

Toen ik de B-stock Roland SH-4D binnenkreeg, had ik eerlijk gezegd niet verwacht dat hij zó snel een vaste plek in mijn setup zou veroveren. Maar vanaf het eerste moment voelde dit apparaat als een creatieve motor die blijft draaien. Ondanks dat het een B-stock exemplaar is, zag hij er praktisch nieuw uit en functioneert alles perfect – wat meteen vertrouwen gaf.
Ik gebruik de SH-4D vooral in combinatie met mijn Novation Launchkey 37. Dat bleek een gouden combinatie. Wel moest ik even de MIDI-instellingen op de SH-4D aanpassen om via DIN5 daadwerkelijk geluid te krijgen. Met wat uitzoekwerk (en hulp van Reddit) was dat gelukkig snel opgelost. Sterker nog: juist dat tweaken zorgde ervoor dat ik het apparaat meteen goed leerde kennen. Sindsdien werkt de MIDI-connectie stabiel en intuïtief, en voelt het alsof de SH-4D echt “op maat” staat voor mijn workflow.
Waar de SH-4D voor mij echt in uitblinkt, is sounddesign. De 12 verschillende oscillator-types zijn ronduit verslavend. Van strak en digitaal tot warm, gruizig en experimenteel: de mogelijkheden voelen letterlijk eindeloos. Elke draaiknop nodigt uit om nét iets verder te gaan, en voor je het weet zit je in een klanklandschap dat je van tevoren niet had kunnen bedenken.
Ik gebruik de SH-4D voornamelijk om eigen sounds te maken onder mijn drone YouTube-video’s. Daar komt hij perfect tot zijn recht. De synth leent zich uitstekend voor langzame evoluties, diepe drones en atmosferische texturen die beelden extra diepte geven. Vaak zet ik een patch op, laat ‘m ademen en bouwen, en raak ik vanzelf in een flow waarin beeld en geluid samensmelten. Dat is voor mij pure creativiteit.
Wat ik ook enorm waardeer, is hoe direct alles werkt. Geen menu-doolhof, maar gewoon knoppen draaien en luisteren. Het compacte formaat maakt hem ideaal voor mijn bureau, terwijl hij qua klank absoluut niet onderdoet voor grotere (en duurdere) synthesizers.
Kortom: de Roland SH-4D heeft mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots overtroffen. Als B-stock via Baxshop.nl was hij niet alleen aantrekkelijk geprijsd, maar bleek hij ook een van de meest inspirerende aankopen die ik in lange tijd heb gedaan. Deze synth heeft mijn muziek én mijn video’s naar een hoger niveau getild – en elke keer als ik hem aanzet, ontdek ik weer iets nieuws.
