Ik gebruik de BigKnob vooral om zang en instrumenten op te nemen. Ik vind de zang lig geweldig klinken met een TLM170r. Uiteraard op 96kHz. De documentatie mag wat duidelijker, want het duurde even voordat het apparaat naar behoren werkte en gezien werd door mijn apple. Gelukkig is er voor Apple geen driver nodig, wat het iets toekomstbestendiger maakt.

Zoals altijd bij Bax Music is het bestellen en ontvangen van je spullen gewoon perfect geregeld. Ik kreeg de volgende dag de nieuwe Big Knob in huis en ging direct aan de slag. Ik had verwacht dat het gewoon een kwestie zou zijn van aansluiten en spelen. Maar dat lag toch iets lastiger. Waar ik van schrok was de knal uit de luidsprekers (Dyn Audio BM 12) toen ik de Big knob aan zette. Oei dat is iets wat ik niet van Mackie had verwacht. Het oude model had daar geen last van. Ook zat ik met samengeknepen billen te luisteren naar de geluidsweergave. Op de een of andere manier is de geluidsweergave anders dan met de oude. Het is minder luid (met dezelfde instellingen) en minder punchy. Ik moest de volume knop bijna helemaal opendraaien om een beetje fatsoenlijk volume te krijgen. Vervolgens de speaker opnieuw ingesteld van -10 dB naar + 4 dB. Dat gaf wel meer volume, maar niet het geluid wat ik wilde hebben. Je vraagt je af of het nu aan jou ligt of aan het apparaat?
