Spots, as opposed to lasers and moving heads, are designed to project a single, fixed bundle of light. With the exception of hand-operated follow spots, any regular spotlight can be used to highlight a surface or fixed object. Some spots have a smaller but more focussed light beam, while some offer a broader, less intense wash. Par Spots are most well-known and can be found as part of a basic lighting set-up in show rooms and cafés alike. Theatres often make use of special theatre spots which allow for light bundles with tighter beam edges used to accurately highlight specific parts of the stage. Most lighting products sold today make use of LED technology since it offers extremely low power consumption.
