Evans G1 16-inch drumhead for bass drum

This G1 Coated sheet from Evans is suitable for 16-inch bass drums that use a traditional wide, wooden tension rim. The G1 sheets have excellent sustain and tone with a subtle attack on top, ideal for jazz drummers. The sheet is single-ply and has a thickness of 10 mil. The G1 heads are known for their wide vocal range. This sheet is only suitable as a drumhead.

Evans G1 Coated 16-inch bass drumhead

It is often difficult to find a suitable skin for 16-inch bass drums. This is because the small kick has not actually been made as a bass drum for very long. Most brands have always used 18-inch as the smallest bass drum size. The 16-inch bass drum actually came about because more and more drummers started converting their floortom into a bass drum. The disadvantage of a converted floortom is that the tension edges are not the same. A bass drum has thick, wooden spokes and a floortom has thin metal spokes. This is also the reason Evans makes these heads for both types.

• In mid-2019, Evans changed the logo on the sheets. It used to have 'Level 360' on it, which is no longer the case with the new sheets. The sheets with 'Level 360' on them are still in circulation, so you might receive one with or without that text. Otherwise, the sheet is completely the same. All sheets are still delivered in the old box, which will also be replaced at the end of 2019.
