The Laney Black Country Customs DB-EAST-PRE is the Nathan East signature bass preamp in compact pedal format, developed as a portable solution for 'big rig' sound. It belongs to the DIGBETH bass series and is made for bassists who want to use one central tone-shaper both live and in the studio.

You work with two inputs (Input 1/2) so you can connect two basses, for example, and switch directly; Input 2 has its own trim to match volumes. The sound base consists of a FET and Tube channel that you can use independently and blend with each other. The Tube section has three gain characters, while the Range control determines how much low-end you send into the drive. Bass/Lo-Mid/Hi-Mid/Treble, TILT and the adjustable Lo-Mid (Q and frequency) finish it off.

For stage and recording, there's a balanced XLR DI with Pre/Post/LA-IR mode and ground lift. LA-IR is preloaded with IRs from Nathan's favourite cabinets (DBV410 on input 1 and DBV212 on input 2) and via USB-C you can use the LA-IR app as well as send class-compliant audio in/out at 48 kHz (post IR) to your DAW. There's also a transparent FX loop, tuner out, aux-in and a stereo headphone output with cabinet emulation. Note that the required 9-12V DC adapter (centre negative, 500 mA) is not included.
