The Stagg J200-BK is an affordable junior electric guitar. It has a scale length of 18.4 inches and is perfect for budding guitarists. Its compact size also makes it suitable as a travel model. It has a one single-coil pickup at the bridge and a volume control.

J200: wood types, sound and hardware

The J200 has a solid body made of alder and a bolt-on maple neck with a maple fretboard. When amplified, the sound is full with clear mids and sufficient sustain. This Junior S model from Stagg's Kids series has a fixed bridge and sealed self-lubricating machine heads.

Wrote the following about Stagg J200-BK electric children's guitar

2 étoiles car elle n'est vraiment pas chère, et donc on ne peut pas espérer une merveille.

Par contre, même après un changement de cordes, il est difficile de tenir l'accords plusieurs minutes. Elle n'arrête pas de se désaccorder.

Wrote the following about Stagg J200-BK electric children's guitar

We hebben deze gitaar gekocht voor onze kleine dochter om mee te beginnen. Een stuk handzamer dan papa's grote gitaren.
In de winkel geprobeerd en ze vond hem direct leuk. Echter bleek hij moeilijk te stemmen en intoneren, dus heeft de gitaarbouwer van BAX Rotterdam er gelijk even naar gekeken. Na lang proberen hem te intoneren en stemmen kwam hij tot de conclusie dat de snaren die erop lagen veel te dun waren voor zo'n korte schaal gitaar. Dikkere snaren geven meer spanning. De fabriek had er .008 snaren op gelegd. Nadat de gitaarbouwer een setje .011 erop had gelegd was hij binnen no time geïntoneerd en gestemd. Let er wel op dat de kam iets uit geveild moet worden voor die dikkere snaren. Mijn advies is dus om deze gitaar in een winkel op te halen en hem gelijk af te laten stellen.
Na de setup speelt hij prima. Hij klinkt ook goed. Met één pickup en een volume knop zit er weinig variatie in het geluid, maar het belangrijkste is eerst leren spelen. Daarna kan je gaan nadenken over toon.
Waar je ook op moet letten met zo'n korte schaal is dat je de snaar heel snel vals kan laten klinken door aan de snaar te trekken. Hij is heel gevoelig voor bends. Veel meer dan een full size gitaar. Wel een goede oefening voor je linkerhand techniek om die goed zuiver te krijgen ;)
Het blijft een redelijk goedkope gitaar, dus verwacht niet teveel van de hardware en je zal hem vrij regelmatig moeten stemmen. Maar al met al is het een hele leuke beginnersgitaar voor de allerkleinsten.
