Yamaha GL1 TBS Guitarlele (Tobacco Brown Sunburst)

Yamaha introduce three fresh finishes of the GL1 Guitarlele. The GL1-TBS has a complex Tobacco Brown Sunburst paint-job and, just like the original naturally finished version, this is a classical guitar in ukulele size and is ideal as a travel guitar or beginner instrument.

Construction of the Yamaha GL1-TBS

Despite the low price, the Yamaha Guitarlele is made with quality woods, using spruce for the top, meranti for the sides and back, and mahogony for the neck, with 18 frets on a rosewood fingerboard. The GL1-TBS has thus a strikingly warm, full sound for such a tiny acoustic instrument. With a 43 mm wide nut, this mini classical guitar has a familiar, almost electric-guitar feeling neck that will fit comfortably in smaller hands. 

Guitarlele Tuning

Just like a classical guitar, the GL1-TBS is fitted with six nylon strings that come tuned in ADGCEA - a standard ukulele tuning with the addition of a low A and D string. In this tuning, you can easily play along with other guitarists in standard tuning with a capo at the fifth fret. This also means that every guitarist can easily cross over to the Yamaha GL1-TBS Guitarlele!
