The Generation X series by Meinl offers a number of interesting cymbals for the adventurous, experimental drummer. Take this GX-10FCH 10-inch Filter China, For instance. It's made of Meinl's own FX9 alloy - a complex blend of copper, zinc, manganese and aluminium. Meinl has also added a number of cutouts to this cymbal, which filters the sound, resulting in cymbal with a unique, rich character.
Meinl Generation X GX-10FCH
A china cymbal usually produces a dirty, trashy sound. This Filter China is not particularly aggressive or trashy, however. Its sound is somewhere between that of a big splash and a regular china. It stays fairly transparent and won't dominate the overall sound of your drum kit. The GX-10FCH has a sharp attack, and its waved edge gives it a short sustain, making it very well suited for accents in quick, busy section of your music that need a quick, crisp accent.
