The solid top is made of American cedar for a nice spacious, warm sound. For a brighter sound with more clarity, try out the CG142S with a spruce top.

High quality construction of the Yamaha CG142C

The Yamaha CG142C shares the same specifications as the CG122MC except that it has a glossy finish and a cedar top (as opposed to the spruce top of the CG122MC). In addition to an American cedar top, the CG142C has sides and back of nato, often referred to as "eastern mahogany" for the same deep, warm intonation and colour that it shares with real mahogany. The neck is also made of nato and is equipped with a 52mm-wide 19-fret rosewood fingerboard. Yamaha has also given the neck and extra thin profile so it's easier to play for small and large hands alike.

The solid top of the Yamaha CG142C helps the body to resonate much better than a laminated top would. This results in a unique sound along with a great dynamic range with balanced low and high tones.
