General

A while ago, Mesa Boogie introduced a mini platform of more compact, less powerful tube amps. The formula proved to be a goldmine and they quickly released the Mini Rectifier Twenty-Five and the Recto-Verb Twenty-Five. A lower price, switchable capability and lighter weight were all welcome features of the Mesa amps in this mini-series. Following in the footsteps of these popular amps, Mesa Boogie released the Mark Five Twenty-Five, and the Mark Five Thirty-Five.

Mark Five Thirty-Five: 4 x EL-84

What makes the Boogie Mark Five 35 stand out from the rest of the series has to be the power section. Mesa chose not to deviate from the tradition of using four EL-84 power tubes, unlike only two in the Mark Five 25 amp. Using Mesa's Dyna-Watt technology, you can switch this amp between 35, 25 and 10 Watts, so saturation is reached earlier and clipping can take place at lower wattages. This makes it an ideal amp for smaller gigs or in the studio. Furthermore, the mark Five Thirty-Five is equipped with two channels and six different modes for a rich sound palette.

New Features

There are quite a few new features loaded onto the Mark Five Thirty-Five; for starters, there's a channel-independent Solo feature that allows for an extra boost per channel that can be seen this as a unique master control that can be set above or below the channel master control. What's more, the Thirty-Five contains gorgeous tube Spring Reverb and Mesa's patented CabClone D.I. to send the output directly to a mixer or recording interface. It's also received a Vintage channel and a footswitch upgrade that makes it possible to choose from any of the improved features this amp has been blessed with.

Mesa Boogie's Mark Five Now Available in a 35-Watt Combo and Head

Friday 6 November 2015 By Lizanne

Mesa Boogie now introduces, alongside the Mark Five Twenty-Five, the Mark Five Thirty-Five! Mesa has continued their glorious tradition by using four EL-84 power tubes in the amplifier, contrary to the earlier Mark Five Twenty-Five, that had to manage with 'only' two. This amp, preceded by the Nomad, Mini Rectifier Twenty-Five and the Caliber, has been released onto Mesa's mini platform in a combo as well as a head version.
