In the form of the Cambridge50, VOX unleash an ambitious little combo amplifier. This modelling amp uses Virtual Element Technology to offer a mass of potential that doesn't just include standard, stage-ready sound but also the rich character and dynamic response of the now-renowned Nutube valve - something that just can't be replicated by digital tech alone. The open back cabinet of this combo comes loaded with a 12" Celestion VX12 speaker and, since it packs 50 Watts of power, the Cambridge50 is more than capable of taking on small stages as well as bedroom-based rehearsals.
The Cambridge50: A Library of Effects and Amplifiers
Besides the list of uniquely sublime amplifier emulations, the Cambridge50 provides a healthy library of built-in effects. These have been divided into a bank of modulation effects and a bank of delays and reverbs. On the modulation side, you're getting chorus, flanger, org phase, and twin trem, while in the delay and reverb section, you get the pick of analogue delay, tape echo, spring, and hall. Naturally, a tuner has been integrated and you can play your best-loved tunes through the amp using the AUX input and play along at the same time. The line output also doubles as a headphone output for more private practice, and besides an emulated AC30, you get access to the sound of all the biggest, and most classic British amps in existence!
An Audio Interface Plus Software
So that you can record directly using nothing but this humble combo amp, a USB interface comes conveniently built-in, so you can send that distinctive Nutube sound straight to your computer and recording software without the need for an external interface. VOX have even been kind enough to include software that can be used to adjust and fine-tune the parameters of the Cambridge50 and save your custom presets to the amp. Besides Windows and Mac computers, the JamVOX III software is also compatible with iOS and Android devices and even helps songwriters to compose and edit using the GXT function. A music player is also included, where a section of a song can be looped and rehearsed until you've got the part nailed. The tempo can even be slowed down and sped up as needed!
