DPA 2011C small-diaphragm condenser microphone

General

The DPA 2011C is a very compact, high-quality, small-diaphragm condenser microphone. It can be used for nearly any recording job - in recording as well as live situations - thanks to the cardioid pickup pattern, wide dynamic range and a high maximum sound pressure. The capsule of the DPA 2011C equals that of the DPA 2011A, the difference between the two models lies in their size and the used preamp.

2011C: compact size

The capsule of the DPA 2011C is screwed onto a very compact amplifier module, which features a 3-pin XLR connector and an MMP-C preamp. Compared to the highly linear MMP-A preamp of the 2011A, the MMP-C has a light boost in the lower frequencies, which lets you enjoy a warm, rich, natural and detailed sound. Thanks to its compact size, the DPA 2011C can be brought into position easily and close to the source, for an optimal registration.

The capsule

Audio is picked up by the microphone via two matched miniature capsules, which are positioned across from one another. These two make up the Twin Diaphragm Capsule, which effectively keeps the proximity effect in check and guarantees a wide sweet spot with consistent audio quality. This Twin Diaphragm Capsule's maximum sound pressure capacity equals 146 dB, so that you can also use it for loud sound sources like drums, percussion and brass instruments!
