Sabian AAX 18-inch Freq Crash cymbal

The inspired product specialists at Sabian actually design far more cymbals than they can produce each year. Pretty nice problem to have, huh? In order to make sure that they were actually manufacturing the best of the best cymbals, and more importantly the cymbals that their customers wanted, Sabian decided to have drummers from the US and Europe play the prototypes and then choose the best ones.

Global voting

Sabian wanted to expand the voting pool to make sure as many drummers as possible had a say in their products, so they put the contestants online and had drummers such as Mike Portnoy (famous from Dream Theater) and Tony Royster Jr play them for Sabian fans all over the world to judge. The result was a unique election, in which drummers from all corners of the globe came together to choose which cymbals Sabian would produce.

Freq Crash

Sabian has a unique two-part lathing process that results in a one-of-a-kind crash with an intense cutting sound. Most rock crashes have a higher sound that is driven by the bell, but the Sabian Freq Crash delivers an explosive sound on impact, which is followed by a solid, open sound. As Sabian so eloquently puts it: You'll definitely want to get your Freq on.
