General
Sabian is one of the biggest and best cymbal manufacturers in the world, and can count itself as one of the 'big four' cymbal manufacturers (together with Zildjian, Paiste and Meinl). The company has its origin in Meductic, Canada in 1981, when Robert Zildjian (that's right) left his family's company to start his own business and named it after his three children, Sally Bill and Andy. Sabian's AAX series of machine-made cymbals possesses a modern, bright sound, featuring their 'Dynamic Focus', which allows cymbals to react the same at all volumes, increases clarity prevents distortion.
Sabian AAX 18-inch X-Plosion crash: It's all in the name
The 18-inch AAX X-Plosion crash has been rather aptly named. The AAX series is famed for its modern, bright sound and 'Dynamic Focus', and this X-Plosion crash possesses all of those great characteristics. This particular model also adds some explosive energy to the mix. It is a medium-thin crash that speaks very quickly and that cuts through any mix quite well. Its sound is also quite unique, as even the AAX models possess some darker overtones, giving this cymbal quite a complex, musical sound.
Like all AAX cymbals the X-Plosion crash has great response, regardless of the intensity of your playing, making this cymbal exceedingly versatile and a great fit for heavy rock and subtle jazz alike.

Na jaren van andere merken te hebben uitgeprobeerd, is het simpel: Sabian heeft gewoon dé beste cymbalen. Deze X-Plosion crash van AAX heeft het allemaal. Ja, het zit al in de duurdere prijsklasse, maar wat je ervoor krijgt, is ongeëvenaard. Niet enkel klinkt het briljant, het ziet er ook fantastisch uit. En ja, Sabian heeft nu een nieuw (flauwer) logo, maar dat staat gelukkig aan de onderkant - de slagkant van het cymbaal is nu lekker clean wat de "brilliant" finish nog meer tot zijn recht laat komen. Prachtig cymbaal.

Ik heb deze gekocht met de bedoeling om in de opnamestudio een iets warmere klank te creëeren. En dat was prima gelukt. Het heeft wel degelijk een goeie punch en een warme naklank. Alleen had ik een lagere pitch verwacht maar dat hangt af van je persoonlijke voorkeur.

Heb dit bekken nu al 2 jaar en ben er erg tevreden mee! De prijs/kwaliteit verhouding is erg goed en hij klinkt mooi helder. Door zijn dikte en gewicht is hij wel duidelijk gericht op hardrock of metal.

Ik ben laatst overgestapt van de Paiste Alpha serie naar de AAX serie van Sabian en wat een verschil! De cymbal klinkt erg vol en helder en de naam X-Plosion past er echt perfect bij! Goed te gebruiken in mijn (progressieve metal) band! Uiteraard met goede prijs-kwaliteit verhouding en snelle levering van de Bax-shop!

A défaut de fabricants proposant des cartons d'emballage adaptés aux cymbales la solution de Bax-Shop était adéquate (carton énorme et bien calé) et la cymbale est arrivée à bon port en 48 heures. Quelques traces de doigts sur celle-ci (pas de trace de baguette), un bon point si la sonorité a été vérifiée avant expédition ;)
Car oui elle sonne, c'est une excellente crash qui complète parfaitement mes crash 16 et 14", réponse très rapide et flamboyante, très bonne cloche et superbe en crash ride. J'ai plutôt tendance à prendre des HHX et j'hésitais avec une HHX 18 Evolution mais en parcourant les nombreux essais sur Youtube, je l'ai trouvée assez proche avec un grave plus présent, ce grave disparaît après enregistrement au mix , du moins chez moi, du coup la prime pour la HHX ne semble pas justifiée, surtout quand la AAX est en promo ...
