The Turkish cymbal manufacturers Istanbul have developed their XIST series specifically for drummers on a limited budget. Traditional, hand-made cymbals are usually quite expensive and while modern, machine-made cymbals may be more affordable, they tend to lack the depth. Istanbul combines traditional and modern cymbal-making techniques in the XIST series to offer affordable, professional all-round cymbals made of B20 alloy.

Istanbul Agop XIST Brilliant cymbal set 14, 16, 20-inch

This cymbal set consists of three cymbals (actually four if you count the hi-hats individually) in standard sizes: a 14-inch hi-hat, 16-inch crash and a 20-inch ride. These cymbals have received a brilliant finish and generally sound warm, open and deep, without losing any clarity. They offer excellent stick definition and an average sustain for beginners and advanced drummers alike. This Istanbul Agop cymbal set comes complete with a soft bag.

De ride en hi-hats zijn precies wat ik zocht. Heel 'brilliant', zoals je zou hopen. Licht genoeg voor akoestische groepen, maar ook met een beetje kracht daarachter. Ze zijn echt de perfecte hi-hats en ride voor mij, ondanks de prijs!

De 16" crash klinkt een beetje 'smal', maar is zeker nog bruikbaar en aanzienlijk beter dan andere goedkope bekkens. Ik zou wel een krachtigere crash willen toevoegen voor de meeste gevallen op het podium, maar voor repetities of om te oefenen valt het zeker goed mee.

Ik vergelijk ze vooral met Zildjian K (ongeveer dubbel de prijs), en hoewel deze bekkens niet zo'n verfijnd geluid hebben als de Zildjian K serie, komen ze er zeker goed uit voor de prijs.
Ik ben heel blij met mijn aankoop.
