You may already have seen the product page for the Heritage Audio 73 DI 2, a truly magnificent DI. However, this manufacturer also offers the Audio 73 ONE: one channel, the same 73 magic, the same fifteen years of development, the same fifty years of heritage, but in a compact single-channel design. For those who don’t immediately need two channels – or simply want to be able to spread several separate units across different sessions and musicians – the 73 DI ONE offers exactly the same 73 topology in a smaller package. That 3055-driven, transformer-coupled Class A output stage that makes the 73 preamps so beloved is housed here in a single-channel DI box. Thanks to its high input headroom, it works superbly not only with guitars and basses, but also with keyboards, synths and drum machines that you want to feed directly into a system. A passive bass gains sparkling highs and a solid low end, with that characteristic low-mid saturation for which the 73 topology is renowned; a Fender Rhodes sounds fuller and more bell-like, and a Wurlitzer gets its characteristic growl without the need for an amplifier.
