Cascha HH 2231 Master Edition Blues Harmonica in D

I'm often looking for Diatonic harmonicas that might substitute for the Hohner Crossover, which while an impressive harp, is getting too expensive. These CASCHA harmonicas are from a German company, but made in China. They have many design features in common with the excellent value for money EASTOP brand - I wouldn't be at all surprised if they were made in the same factory. Bottom line, they are good. The two models I've tried are the "Professional" and the "Master". Both have a good rich tone and controllable bends. Not shrill (like some) and with plenty of "back pressure" to take a draw note through a controlled semi-tone which is essential for Blues and Jazz. The Master Edition are presented as being the higher quality of the two. They probably have the edge on tonal richness however in my opinion they have a design fault in that the front corners of the covers can be quite sharp, which can feel uncomfortable, more worrying than dangerous, at the sides of the mouth when playing low notes. The covers are also somewhat textured, which some players may like, but I find the consequent friction adds resistance to fast playing across the harmonica. The lower priced "Professional" models have very smooth folded edges on their covers and a smoother texture, and they are consequently more comfortable to play. I've bought more of the Master edition because of the reed quality and tone, however I can also see myself substituting CASCHA Professional or Easttop 008k blues harmonica covers (identical) for more playing comfort (CASCHA TAKE NOTE!)
