Many (professional) harmonica players have gone before you. The Marine Band is the most popular diatonic harmonica. Ever since its introduction in 1896, this instrument has been played daily. The Marine Band was at the forefront of the development of blues and R&B from the 1920s on the Mississippi Delta in America. The diatonic harmonica gained much popularity due to the fact that it is a very accessible instrument: anyone can play it and it is a relatively inexpensive musical instrument.

The Natural Minor tuning

For lovers of music in minor, Hohner has the Natural Minor tuning. This tuning is characterised by five notes being tuned to minor, creating a minor scale. This makes it possible to solo in minor without having to 'bottom out'. This variant is tuned in A-flat minor, allowing you to play along with music in the key of C-sharp minor. You can use this harmonica for a wide range of purposes. Think of musical styles such as blues, jazz, pop and rock, but certainly also folk, country and reggae.

Mr Hohner founded his company in the mid-nineteenth century, and from that time, harmonicas have been made with the greatest care. Expertise and quality are of paramount importance to Hohner. From the introduction of the Marine Band in 1896, the company grew enormously and today many different models are available, one by one with unique features. The harmonicas are manually assembled, tuned and checked for quality. Hohner believes that human knowledge cannot be replaced by machines.
