If it looks, feels and sounds like an authentic piano, it's probably... a Roland digital piano! To label the Roland LX-17 PE Polished Ebony a mere digital piano would be selling it short, however, as this instrument features an astonishing 307 tones. Its polyphony is impressive too, to say the least. Thanks to SuperNATURAL technology, the LX-17 PE has an unlimited polyphony for its piano sound. For its many other tones, the piano can handle an astonishing 384 voices.
The Roland LX-17's piano sound
The LX-17 is equipped with a SuperNATURAL sound engine, which means it doesn't simply play back samples, but uses complex formulas to calculate what a specific piano stroke should sound like. This technology, which is also known as Physical Modelling, simulates hammer sound, string resonance and cabinet resonance as well, which hugely benefits the authenticity of your performance. Of course the LX-17 is more than just a collection of computer chips. Its stylish housing will look great in your living room, and its keys have a pleasant feel. The digital piano has three pedals and is equipped with speakers that really bring your music to life. Its housing enhances the sound even more - just like a real acoustic piano's would!
Additional possibilities
Who doesn't own a smartphone or a tablet these days? Set up a Bluetooth connection with the LX-17, and you're able to stream music from your device. You'll be able to play along with your favourite tracks or with recorded four-hand piano parts. It's also worth looking into the available apps. There's an iOS app, for instance, which gives you access to over 70,000 sheet music files. Turning the virtual pages is easy - you can simply use your digital piano's pedals.
