With the JHS Pedals Overdrive Preamp, you've got something really great. Namely a highly accurate recreation of the beloved DOD 250 overdrive pedal, only more accessible in terms of price and more comprehensive in terms of options. What JHS pedals has managed to create is a versatile piece of kit. If you have ever heard or played a real DOD 250 or a reissue, you will notice more volume and gain available when using the JHS Overdrive Preamp. A switch has also been added to the design that allows you to switch between two different "clipping" variations, which basically means these are two pedals in one. If the switch is down, you get a sound with more distortion and saturation. Turn it up and you get a more open, louder and brighter sound. The versatility of the overdrive preamp means that the pedal would not be out of place in any guitarist's arsenal. Even better, it doesn't come at the expense of its highly recognisable and iconic sound.
