Mad Professor's Little Green Wonder is modelled after the famous TS-808 and adds a wonderful overdrive to your tube amplifier, ranging from a mild boost via a hefty crunch to a weighty distortion. The pedal is specifically designed to be placed anywhere in your pedal chain. Where other overdrive pedals usually add quite a lot of compression to the signal, the Little Green Wonder's compression is deliberately low. That means that this green gem is great for guitars equipped with humbuckers - which already have a more compressed sound.

Body

With three controls, using the Mad Professor seems deceptively simple. The volume and drive knob do what you may expect an overdrive to do. The trick of this pedal is in the Body control, which allows you to adjust the frequency range of the distortion. Turn it left of the middle to emphasise bass and mids while boosting the trebles slightly. Turn it right to emphasise only the trebles. Where the primeval screamers had a lot of treble loss, the Mad Professors cleverly circumvented this issue with their Little Green Wonder.

The Finnish brand Mad Professor has been making guitar effect pedals since 2002. These Boutique-style pedals immediately became popular among guitarists for their outstanding sound and ease of use. This Little Green Wonder gives you all the sounds you may expect from a quality overdrive and - naturally - is a True Bypass pedal. Guitarists who are looking for a TS-style pedal without its typical disadvantages (high compression, treble loss) should definitely give this pedal a try. Like all of Mad Professor's pedals, it is nicely compact and very sturdy. Turns out the Mad Professors aren't crazy at all.
