General
Maxon has improved its classic OD808 pedal, resulting in the OD808X. Compared to its predecessor, it has undergone a number of important changes. The OD808X has a broader frequency response, the capability to retain a clear tone even at high volume levels, and a greater sensitivity to the definition in your playing. Of course, it also delivers the familiar overdrive tone that the original OD808 is known for.
Maxon OD808X: Improved design for even more tonal possibilities
The OD808X offers you an arsenal of tones. Use it for a subtle signal boost, a crunchy edge, a gorgeous sustain, or as a high-gain pedal for some serious shredding. Even at high overdrive, the original sound of your guitar remains intact, and a +5dB output level ensures the OD808X cuts right through any mix. This is an overdrive for the guitarist that needs that little bit of extra power.
Famous among the legends
Countless guitarists love the 808 sound. Stevie Ray Vaughan actually used two of these pedals back to back in his effects chain for an even broader sound. REM's Peter Buck, who is known for his subtle overdrive, chose the 808 so he could play melodious parts while retaining the character of his sound at high volume levels. As you can see, this pedal is suitable for just about any genre.
