AlphaTheta RMX-Ignite DJ Performance Effects Unit

There was a time when we literally DJed with vinyl - and of course, plenty of DJs still do it that way. Later, we got digital music players, like Pioneer's famous CDJs. But the DJ world always wants to be able to incorporate more creativity into their acts, even if only to boost their status as a DJ with some original content. The AlphaTheta RMX-Ignite is a DJ performance effects unit that deserves your attention! In a way, you're kind of interfering with the music you're playing; you can actually add something to it with the Ignite.

The idea behind the AlphaTheta RMX-Ignite

Suppose you're playing a piece of music on a CDJ media player connected to your DJM DJ mixer. This all needs to be connected via Pro DJ Link. You send this track to the Ignite, and the Ignite can play its own beat in sync with it, for example, using a 909 drum kit (samples included). In short, the source music transforms into something of your own—which, of course, allows you to come up with all sorts of creative jokes and ideas. Naturally, this process is completely transparent to the outside world. There's also a sample player on board, complete with twenty Loopcloud samples - you can, of course, use your own samples.

Extensive Effects

The built-in effects are just as fun. The concept of effects isn't even new; many years ago, there already was the Pioneer DJ RMX-1000 - still a popular piece of equipment in the DJ world. This Ignite can be seen as a long-awaited successor to that RMX-1000. It offers three frequency ranges, with three levers and three rotary knobs. Pull a lever, and the corresponding effects will temporarily activate (similar to a flash button on a lighting controller); push it, and the effect will remain active until the lever returns to the center position. The knobs provide control over the corresponding effects (knobs and levers are therefore not the same thing in terms of effects), in the form of isolation and the amount of effect. Therefore, the effects are always per frequency band. This is quite advantageous in itself, because some sounds can be quite large with a substantial reverb, but preferably in the high frequencies rather than the - often—disturbing - low frequencies.

Target Audience

In short, a very interesting machine. One that will be especially eagerly used by creative DJs. It's obvious to think deeply about what it can do, but that's often based on a workflow you're already familiar with. Perhaps it's time to leave existing frameworks behind and experiment with entirely new concepts. The RMX-Ignite is an ideal product for this purpose.
