The secret of the AlphaTheta Wave-Eight portable speaker is the SonicLink feature: new ultra-low-latency tech that ensures faster audio over Bluetooth, ensuring a seamless wireless connection. The moment you hit the Play button of your DJ controller, the speaker responds in an inaudible fraction of a second. The Wave-Eight even comes with a transmitter, which can be removed from the fitted compartment and hooked up to your DJ gear to complete the wireless setup and ensure that you can literally take the party anywhere.

The AlphaTheta Wave-Eight is powered by a rechargeable battery that delivers up to eight hours of performance, making it fully portable, while the highly efficient onboard Class-D amplifier has been combined with a newly developed 8 inch driver and a Vortex Bass Accelerator, guaranteeing clear and defined, powerful bass reproduction - even outdoors! For bigger events in need of bigger volume, two Wave-Eights can be teamed up via the SOnicLink system and a third Wave-Eight can even be added in Subwoofer mode. And, since the weather can be unpredictable, the cabinet has a splash-proof IPX4 rating.

Ik was op zoek naar een manier om meer diepe tonen aan mijn speakerset toe te voegen (Everse 8). Eerder had ik de Everse 12 getest, maar het verschil in lage frequenties viel tegen. Uiteindelijk heb ik bij Bax Music de AlphaTheta Wave-Eight laten bestellen en deze in de showroom getest. Vanaf het eerste moment hoorde ik direct een duidelijk verschil. De Wave-Eight wist me echt te verrassen. Ik had verwacht dat ik vooral voor het merk zou betalen, maar de geluidskwaliteit overtrof mijn verwachtingen ruimschoots.
Qua design vind ik het persoonlijk een erg mooie speaker, en de Sonic Link-functie werkt uitstekend. Dit zorgt ervoor dat ik flexibel ben in de opstelling van mijn speakers, wat voor mij een grote plus is. Daarnaast heeft de Wave-Eight een subwoofer-modus, wat perfect uitkomt, omdat ik al op zoek was naar een subwoofer voor mijn studio. Deze speaker vult eigenlijk precies de gaten die ik had in mijn geluidssystemen.
De geluidskwaliteit is indrukwekkend. De diepe tonen doen me denken aan de JBL Partybox 310, die ik eerder heb gehad. Sterker nog, voor mijn gevoel gaat de Wave-Eight zelfs net wat dieper. Online kon ik geen specificaties vinden over de frequentiebereik, maar op basis van mijn ervaring met verschillende speakers en subwoofers zou ik zeggen dat hij rond de 30-35 Hz komt. Daarnaast zijn de mids en highs een stuk zuiverder dan ik had verwacht. Wat betreft volume merk ik weinig verschil met de Everse 8’s, maar waar de bass bij de Everse 8 op een gegeven moment lijkt achter te blijven bij hoog volume, blijft de Wave-Eight juist mooi in balans en groeit de bass mee.
Al met al is dit echt een top speaker die voor mij alle gaten in mijn setup opvult. In mijn studio zal hij voornamelijk als subwoofer dienen, maar bij goed weer en kleine evenementen is deze speaker ook perfect inzetbaar. Een veelzijdige en indrukwekkende toevoeging aan mijn geluidssystemen!
