The Mapex Mars MA528S-BZW 528 Crossover is a shell set in 1-up, 2-down configuration with a Nightwood finish. The Mars series has a few of the high-class components from the Saturn IV line of drum sets. This shell set consists of a 22-inch bass drum, 12-inch tom, 14 and 16-inch floor toms and a matching 14 x 6.5-inch snare. This Mapex Mars crossover shell set, with its single tom, is excellently suited for the rock drummer that wants a powerful sound and that likes to have his ride cymbal close by.
Mapex Mars 528S Crossover shell set Nightwood: clear tone
The shells of this five-piece shell set are made of six plies of birch, for a perfectly focused sound, great resonance and a clear tone. The single, 12-inch tom has a clear, punchy sound, while the bass drum and floor toms deliver a focused low end, with a great punch and plenty of body. The 22 x 18-inch bass drum is fitted with isolating claw hooks with a rubber lining. This lining protects the bass drum hoops from being damaged, and ensures that the hardware does not start rattling as you play. The 12 x 8-inch tom can be attached to a cymbal stand with the included tom arm and clamp.
Matching snare
A notable part of this crossover shell set is the matching 14 x 6.5-inch snare drum. This snare produces a solid, distinct sound and has a very versatile character. The bearing edges of the shells in the Mars series are called SONIClear bearing edges. These allow the drumhead to make better contact with the shell, resulting in a more consistent tuning, an enhanced tuning range and a deeper sound. The Mars 528S Crossover in Nightwood is a high-quality shell set, ideal for drummers that are regularly out on the road. The hardware of this mystical-looking kit has been electro-plated with a black finish and is more durable than ever.
