Fusion: this shell configuration sounds a bit higher, which can be of great value in certain musical styles. The Pearl EXL705/C248 5-piece Export Lacquer shell set in Black Smoke will give you all the benefits of this configuration. Plus, the price is astonishingly low, considering the amount of goodies you get in return - the Pear Export series has always prided itself on delivering great value for money. This set consists of a 20 x 18-inch bass drum, 10 x 7 and 12 x 8-inch toms, a 14 x 14-inch floor tom and even a 14 x 5.5-inch snare drum. You even get a set of hardware: three cymbal stands (including hi-hat pedal), a snare stand and a bass drum pedal. Cymbals are not included, but considering their enormous diversity it might be better, and certainly more fun, to pick these out yourself.

Features of the Pearl EXL705/C248

Of course this Black Pearl puts sound first. Let its shells convince you with their deep, rich sound combined with a sharp attack and long sustain. Asian mahogany and poplar are a match made in heaven: together they make up the 7.5mm thick, 6-ply shells. Of course, the 45-degree bearing edges (sustain and resonance) and the triple flanged hoops (attack) also contribute to the high-quality displayed by these shells. Plus, the Opti-Loc tom mounting system makes sure that the toms stay firmly in place while still allowing them to resonate freely, so their full potential is realised.
