General

Pearl is known to offer wide range of different drum kits. They even have plenty to offer beginner drummers, such as this Pearl RS585C/C31 Roadshow drum kit, for instance. It has a small bass drum, which means the setup as a whole is not very high. Furthermore, the kit comes with all the basics you'll need to get started as a drummer. That means it includes cymbals, hardware, a drum throne and drum sticks. The shells feature a sleek Jet Black finish and chrome hardware.

Pearl RS585C/C31 Roadshow Jet Black

As we mentioned before, this is quite the compact setup, and comes in what Pearl calls a Junior configuration. It consists of an 18 x 12-inch bass drum, 10 x 7-inch and 12 x 8-inch toms, a 14 x 14-inch floor tom and a 13 x 5-inch snare drum. All shells are made of 9 plies of poplar, which gives this kit a beautifully rich sound. These compact sizes are great for early learners, and don't take up much space either!

Everything you need

When you're just starting out as a drummer, you'll need more than just drum shells. You'll need cymbals, for instance. Luckily, the Pearl Roadshow drum kits come with a 14-inch Hybrid hi-hat and a 16-inch crash/ride cymbal. They also come with double-braced stands, which offer excellent stability and durability. Furthermore, the included drum throne features the same rubber feet that the stands have, so it won't slide around. Finally, you'll need a pair of drum sticks. And Pearl threw in not one, but two pairs of their own Pearl 5A Maple drum sticks, which you can keep in the included stick bag.

Wrote the following about Pearl RS585C-C31 Roadshow drum kit Jet Black

J'étais à la recherche d'une jazzette abordable pour me remettre à la batterie.

Globalement j'en suis très satisfait, le hardware est de qualité pour ce prix, le charley livré est surprenant, rien à voir avec les cymbales bas de gamme qu'on trouve en kit, seule la crash ride reste passable, sans plus. La grosse caisse est punchy, la caisse clair est correcte et cohérente avec le reste du kit.

Un petit bémol au niveau de la finition des fûts, avec notamment des irrégularités sur les chanfreins et quelques éclats à l'intérieur des fûts. Les peaux en dehors de celle de la caisse clair et de la grosse caisse sont clairement à changer, j'ai beaucoup de mal à faire sonner le tom basse à cause de la piètre qualité des peaux de frappe.
