You can trust Tama to make excellent drum kits. With over 40 years of experience, it's no wonder that their Starclassic Maple series has turned out to be something quite special. The latest production techniques have lead to thinner shells and sturdy, practical hardware. The 22-inch virgin bass drum, 10 x 8 and 12 x 9-inch toms and the 14 x 12 and 16 x 14-inch floor toms make for a highly versatile configuration. It features a gorgeous Galaxy Chameleon Sparkle finish, which is nicely complemented by the black nickel-plated hardware.

Optimal sound

In their search for a great tone, Tama used several plies of maple to create these drum shells. The plies are purposefully kept extra thin, which gives the maple's warm sound an added openness. Furthermore, the StarCast tom mounting system - which suspends the drums by their hoops, minimising contact with the shell - allows the shells to resonate freely. The floor toms, meanwhile, feature air cushioned legs, with special air chambers that prevent the vibrations from disappearing into the ground.

Efficient hardware

Tama fitted the toms and floor toms with a special Quick Lock-system that makes setting up your kit a quick and easy process. The tom and floor tom hoops are made of die-cast zinc, which means they have no structural weak spots. This keeps the tension even across the drumhead and allows for powerful rimshots. Furthermore, the tension rods are fitted with rubber Hold Tight washers that prevent them from coming loose. Finally, the wooden bass drum hoops are kept in place by rubber-lined claw hooks that won't damage the hoops and won't rattle if you tune your bass drumhead very loosely.
