The extensive Erica Synths Perkons HD-01 Drum Machine Synthesizer is essentially an EDM or synth-pop production tool that stacks up four tracks alongside parameter recording, opening up a wide and sprawling soundscape. Each track has been kitted out with synthesizer parameter controls and an x0x-style step sequencer, but the beauty of this unit is that the synth-parameters can be recorded and made part of the sequence. So, while most off-the-shelf drum machines will let you plonk maybe a closed hi-hat and open hi-hat on separate tracks, with the HD-01 you can stick your hi-hat on one track then, at the right moment, tweak the decay pot to mimic the sound of an open hi-hat and record it, putting your open and closed hat on one track. This is just one example of what can be done with this comprehensive and intuitive model, so you're looking at a forceful hands-on drum machine that offers way more variation than you might expect.
