General

The Mike Portnoy 420X drumsticks with ActiveGrip are just a bit longer than standard 5A drumsticks, measuring in at 16.5 inches long. The wooden oval tips offer a warm, full attack. Thanks to Promark's patented ActiveGrip system, which is activated by sweat and body heat while you play, the sticks get sticky and won't easily fall out of your hands. These sticks are great for a range of music styles. However, as they have wooden tips, we do have to say that they're less suited for (electronic) drum sets with mesh heads.

De grip werkt erg goed.
Ze zijn ze ietsje langer dan gewone stokken. Zelf vind ik dit fijn, maar dit geld misschien niet voor iedereen.
Ook zijn de tips best groot waardoor je een wat hardere en vollere klank krijgt.

Na jarenlang Vic Firth gebruikt te hebben nu overgestapt op deze Pro Mark stokken. De active grip werkt echt en geeft comfortabel speelgevoel. De stok is ook iets langer wat ik een voordeel vind en het spelen iets makkelijker maakt. Diameter is voor mij helemaal in orde en de prijs voor deze kwaliteit ook. Enig nadeel is dat slijtage relatief snel optreedt t.o.v mij. Oude Vic Firth stokken met nylon tip.

Hehe, eindelijk, ik gebruik altijd tape van ProMark, maar na een tijdje verslijt dit en dan maakt de tape je vingers kapot, dus je moet op tijd de tape wisselen, maar nu deze stokken, gisteren avond de hele avond in de oefenruimte gezeten met dik 27 graden binnen, was dus behoorlijk zweten, en ja ze glijden echt niet weg, dacht dat het niet zo goed zou zijn, maar toch maar 2 paar besteld, en na gisteren avond helemaal om, dit zijn DE stokken voor mij, en de tekst "niet geschikt voor elektronische drums en gaasvellen" is niet correct...zijn dus wel!
