With this GHS Bass Boomers bass string set, you can give your 4-string electric bass a solid, well-defined foundation for BEAD tuning. Instead of the standard EADG, this set has been specially designed to maintain a good balance between the lower tension and thicker string gauges. Ideal if you want to approximate the range of a 5-string, but on a 4-string bass. Thanks to the nickel-plated steel winding, you get that distinctive Boomers sound: tight bass, clear attack and plenty of punch for rock, pop and metal.

Specially designed for BEAD tuning

Whilst many standard 4-string sets are too light for B-E-A-D tuning, this set has been specifically developed to ensure that the low B string sounds stable and controlled. As a result, your intonation stays more accurate and the set feels more consistent across all four strings. The set is designed for 4-string electric basses with a 34-inch long scale, ensuring the length and tension are well-suited to most common long-scale models. A practical choice if you want to tune lower without having to switch to a 5-string bass straight away.

Construction and feel

The strings are roundwound, which provides extra brightness, definition and a lively harmonic structure. The hexagonal core delivers a tight, direct response and helps the string feel stable, particularly when strumming hard or using a pick. The material is nickel-plated steel: a nice middle ground between the warm feel of nickel and the bite of steel.
