D'Addario has composed the EXL117 string set specifically for drop D and low tunings. This string set for the electric guitar is a combination of 011 and 012 set strings. The 011 set provides the unwound strings for easy pressing during solos. The 012 set provides the wound strings for a full sound and high string pressure.

Ideaal voor lagere, open of alternatieve stemmingen. Niet alleen voor harde muziek. Zelf speel ik er veel ambient open stemmingen mee. Een heel fijn volle ronde! En natuurlijk levering en service van Bax is zoals gewoonlijk, simpelweg, gewoon goed!

Erg tevereden. Ze zijn niet al te duur en spelen heerlijk. Zelf speel ik in standaard d en drop c, daarvoor zijn ze perfect. De dikke snaren zij extra dik waardoor je er goed op kan raggen en de dunne snaren wat dunner zodat je er makelijker bends mee kan doen.

Relatief goedkope snaren, goede diktes om te down tunen. Gebruik ze zelf op een 25.5 inch scale, van D-standard tot drop B. Bas snaren staan erg strak en de hogere snaren zijn los genoeg om te kunnen benden.

Ik moest wel even wennen aan de dikkere snaren, maar eenmaal gewend ben ik erg blij met het wat vollere geluid.
