Ernie Ball 2591 Regular Slinky Flatwound Strings are made of steel and cobalt, include gauges .010 to .046, and can be slapped on standard electric guitars, full-size and thinline semi-acoustics, and even electro-acoustic and steel-string acoustic guitars. These versatile flatwounds offer an especially smooth-and-comfy playing feel and sit on the lighter side in terms of tension.

Deze set leek mij aantrekkelijk omdat de snaar diktes gelijk zijn aan een normale roundwound set zodat je niet je topkam hoeft bij te vijlen voor de veelal dikkere flatwounds. Ik was helaas niet zo enthousiast als ik had gehoopt. Ik vond op zich de klank van de snaren mooi en ze klinken zelfs met oversturing goed. Helaas vond ik de snaren erg stroef aanvoelen, echt veel minder glad dan thomastik flatwounds bijvoorbeeld. Daarnaast bleek het onmogelijk om de G snaar correct te intoneren, deze bleef ook bij instelling op de maximale snaarlengte van het brugzadel, veel en veel te hoog op de twaalfde fret. Dit probleem had ik bij andere snaren op dezelfde gitaar niet. De snaren waren daarmee voor mij volstrekt onbruikbaar en ik heb ze er na twee keer spelen en proberen af te stellen afgeknipt en weggegooid.
