Baritone guitars really don't get the credit they deserve in the guitar world. Luckily, more and more bands and artists are discovering this unique instrument. With the release of the Viper-200B Black, ESP LTD makes the baritone guitar more accessible than ever, thanks to its reasonable price tag. Of course, its looks alone make it quite the desirable instrument, with its sort of slanted SG-style design. Due its 27" scale length, it can handle anything from a high baritone (C-F-Bb-Eb-G-C) to an open C, so that you'll have the perfect middle ground between bass and guitar for each and every song.

Venomous sound

Logically, the Viper sounds different than most regular guitars. To properly pick up all those low frequencies and still deliver a focused, bright sound, it's equipped with two passive humbuckers. The rest of the setup is nice and simple: there are tone and volume controls, as well as a three-way pickup switch for plenty of possibilities. To make sure that you strings will stay in tune, even if you drop down to an open C, there's a fixed bridge with 6 individual saddles. All in all, this results in quite a fat, heavy sound, especially if you turn up the gain.

Smooth design

As we mentioned before, its design is reminiscent of a traditional double-cutaway guitar. Combined with the extended scale length, that results in a unique yet balanced look. Furthermore, the Viper-200B features a mahogany neck, and a rosewood fretboard with 24 extra jumbo frets that are perfect for the thicker baritone strings. Finally, the set-in neck allows for easy access to the higher frets, while the thin U-profile means it's great for lightning-quick licks. If that doesn't get the inspiration flowing, we don't know what will!
