General

This Aged Cherry Burst American Elite Telecaster combines unparalleled sound, looks and playing comfort. The past and present come together in the new American Elite series. Everything good has been retained, while several new innovations put this guitar in a different class altogether. The result is a classic-looking Telecaster that only starts revealing its secrets when you play it. A redesigned body and neck make playing this instrument more comfortable than ever. It's fitted with Fender's New 4th Generation Noiseless pickups for a sound that sparkles without the merest hint of interference. With the S-1 switch you have even more tonal options at you disposal.

Evolution of an icon

While the old adage 'If it ain't broke, don't fix it' often holds true, living by this saying all the time would hold back progress. Fortunately, Fender have found the right balance between retention and progression. The Telecaster's legendary body shape and the iconic headstock, for instance, have been left unchanged. This Aged Cherry Burst model has a beautifully grained body made of alder that produces a characteristic full sound with tight bass and sparkling trebles. It has a maple neck with a rosewood fretboard that adds warmth to higher tones. Changes can be found on the neck and rear of the body. The neck features a compound radius and shape that goes from a modern C to D which makes playing chords and solos extremely comfortable. On the rear, the heel has been optimised, making the higher frets easily accessible.

American Elite Telecaster

In 2015, Fender decided that the time had come to upgrade the American Deluxe Telecaster series to match the wishes of today's guitarists. Everything about the design was looked at and the best bits were retained while improvements made where possible. When they were finished, the term Deluxe no longer seemed appropriate. That's why Fender chose the name American Elite to represent the series of top-class instruments that build upon more than half a century of experience. As already touched upon, features like the S-1 switch give you extra tonal options while the 'no-load' circuit bypass the tone control for pure, unadulterated single-coil sound. In short, the American Elite Telecaster is the ultimate result of more than half a century of experience, evolution and innovation by Fender.

NAMM 2016: Big Fender Name Change: Deluxe Is Now Elite!

Thursday 21 January 2016

Fender knows like no other that you never change a winning team. Besides a few little adjustments here and there, they usually don't mess with their successful models too much. Until now. The famous manufacturer decided to get rid of the Deluxe name and re-brand it with the slightly classier Elite moniker. Of course, this also goes with a few adjustments for the various Teles and Strats, as well as the Jazz, Precision and Dimension bass guitars.
